The Saarpfalz District Adult Education Centre, Bexbach branch, is hosting a lecture on Thursday, 29 October, entitled “30 Years of Friendship in Action between the Saarpfalz District and Henrico County”. The speakers are Beate Ruffing, partnership officer for Henrico County at the Saarpfalz District, and Klaus Friedrich, an expert on German-American history, particularly as it relates to our region. The talk will take place from 6.30 pm at theKulturbahnhof Bexbach, Bahnhofstraße 40, took place.
Am 5. Mai 1997 wurde die offizielle Urkunde für die Partnerschaft zwischen dem Saarpfalz-Kreis und Henrico County, einer dem deutschen Landkreis vergleichbaren Gebietskörperschaft im amerikanischen Bundesstaat Virginia, unterzeichnet. It was initiated by the German-American Institute in Saarland, which continues to support the partnership to this day.Die Begegnungen zwischen und mit den Menschen, das Lernen voneinander und das gegenseitige Verständnis füreinander sind die Basis der Partnerschaft. Informationsveranstaltungen und Austauschprogramme erfüllen diese seit über 25 Jahren mit Leben. Based on their personal encounters, Beate Ruffing and Klaus Friedrich are deeply committed to showcasing the county – founded in 1611 and home to Pocahontas – as well as the links with the Saarpfalz region that have developed through the district twinning scheme.
