On the initiative of the Ministry of the Environment, Mobility, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (MUKWAV) and the Ministry of Education and Culture (MBK), an information event on the topic of "Hygiene and infection protection in daycare centres and schools" was held at the Homburg Forum with the participation of the Saarpfalz District Health Department and the State Office for Consumer Protection (LAV).
The invitation was aimed at people who do not have to be instructed in accordance with Section 43 of the Infection Protection Act (IfSG), but who have contact with food in daycare centres or schools. These include, for example, parents who serve cakes at school, e.g. at school parties, teachers who provide a healthy breakfast for pupils, all-day staff who prepare an afternoon snack with pupils, nursery staff, teachers in general education schools who teach cookery, or people who prepare and handle food at sporadic school parties. Around 39 interested parties registered for the event
After Christoph Bier, Head of the Department of Nutrition and Prevention, Nutritional Expertise at the MUKMAV, the new District Administrator Frank John took the opportunity to warmly welcome the participants - this time all women.
"The health and safety of our children and young people is our top priority. That's why I think it makes a lot of sense for experts to share and discuss basic knowledge about hygiene at this event. The direct exchange of experiences can also certainly be useful here. I am familiar with such events from my work in the association. It is certainly useful to bring this topic to schools and daycare centres so that they remain safe places to learn," emphasised District Administrator Frank John, thanking everyone for their interest and wishing everyone a good and informative time.
Heiko Weiland, food inspector at the LAV, then spoke about good hygiene practice when cooking with children. Michael Gutzeit, Head of Health Supervision at the Saarpfalz district, then provided information on hygiene and infection prevention when handling food in daycare centres and schools.
The audience gave positive feedback at the end. The opportunity to ask questions directly and exchange ideas fundamentally provides more security. The MUKWAV would like to establish the event in the Saarpfalz district as well as in other districts.
