Who is entitled to these benefits?
Children, adolescents and young adults up to the age of 25 who receive one of the following benefits and do not receive a training allowance.
- Basic income support (SGB II)
- Social assistance (SGB XII)
- Supplementary child allowance
- Housing benefit
- Asylum seeker benefits (AsylbLG)The following services are included:
- Assumption of lunch costs at school / daycare centre
- Learning support
- School trips / daycare excursions
- School transport / travel costs
- Social and cultural participation

Lunch
If you take part in a communal lunch programme, the expenses incurred will be reimbursed to the organiser.Learning support
Children sometimes need support in order to achieve their learning goals at school. If the school offers are not sufficient to remedy existing learning deficits and thus achieve the learning goal, additional appropriate learning support can be granted. As part of the application process, you must have the school confirm the need for learning support.One-day and multi-day excursions / school trips
Pupils and children attending a day-care centre can have the costs of one-day and multi-day excursions covered. School trips can only be covered if they comply with school regulations, i.e. if they have been authorised by the school management.School transport
Pupils at secondary schools who attend the nearest school of their chosen course of education and are dependent on school transport for this and whose costs are not covered by other sources are eligible. Reimbursement is made directly to the applicant. The original tickets must be submitted as receipts. The journey to and from school must be more than 4 kilometres.Participation in social and cultural life
Children and young people under the age of 18 receive a maximum budget of €15.00 per month for various activities, e.g. music lessons, sports, games and socialising or leisure activities.School supplies
From January 2024, pupils will receive 130.00 euros on 1 August and 65.00 euros on 1 February for school equipment. This is intended to facilitate purchases such as school bags, sports equipment and writing, arithmetic and drawing materials such as fountain pens, colouring pencils, set square and compasses. Recipients of benefits according to SGB II do not have to submit a separate application.Procedure
A separate application must be submitted to the Department of Social Affairs for each child.
