Responsible office
For pupils:
The education funding offices of the districts or independent cities are responsible for student financial support under the BAföG scheme within Germany. For students attending evening grammar schools, vocational colleges, higher technical colleges and academies, the student finance office responsible is the one in the district where the educational institution is located. For all other pupils, responsibility generally lies with the student finance office of the city or district administration in the parents’ place of residence.
For students:
The student services organisations at the universities where students are enrolled, or are due to be enrolled, are responsible for providing BAföG student finance within Germany.
For an apprenticeship abroad:
Central international offices in Germany – which vary depending on the destination country – are responsible for BAföG funding for study abroad, for both university students and school pupils. You can find the relevant international office on the website.
On the website, you can search for the student finance office responsible for your funding.
