Our workshops offer practical insights into media literacy and STEM topics. Whether for educational professionals, teachers or anyone else with an interest – our focus is on hands-on learning, sharing ideas and knowledge that can be put into practice straight away.

Mobile phone and digital advice sessions for the over-60s

Once a month, we offer our mobile phone and digital advice sessions for the over-60s – usually on the first Wednesday of the month.

You can bring your own device (smartphone or tablet) and ask specific questions on the day. We’ll help you with the settings, explain how to use your device and also cover a topical issue each time.

MINTwoch Workshop

At our MINTwoch workshop , we spend one Wednesday afternoon at a time focusing intensively on a particular technique or a current topic. The specific dates will be announced in good time.

The workshop usually takes place at the Media Centre immediately following a ‘MINTwoch Creative Day’ (hands-on day) with children and young people. This allows us to draw on the experiences we have gained directly from our practical work. You can benefit from our practical experience, try out the activities for yourselves and work with us to consider how the content can be incorporated into your everyday teaching practice.

This programme is aimed at teaching staff in nursery schools and schools, as well as other educational professionals working in the education sector and who are interested in new technologies and practical methods.

Whether it’s using green screens, 3D printing, educational robots such as Calliope, artificial intelligence or topics such as cybergrooming: each workshop has its own specific focus. Alongside practical insights and hands-on sessions, there is plenty of scope for questions, ideas and joint discussion on how the content can be meaningfully implemented within each institution and in day-to-day teaching practice.

9 December 2026 – electronic Christmas cards (1.00–4.00 pm)

_{How can creative craft ideas be combined with technical principles? In this MINTwoch workshop, we’ll be making electronic Christmas cards using simple circuits, LEDs and creative materials.}

_{Together, we’ll look at how the project can be structured, what materials are needed and how the project can be supported in a way that is appropriate for the children’s age.}

_{Participants will gain practical insights into designing illuminated Christmas cards and will have the opportunity to try out their own ideas. There will also be time for questions and for discussing together how this activity can be implemented in nurseries, schools or other educational settings.}

MINTwoch Creative

With our new format MINTwoch Kreativ we offer exciting STEM activities for children, school pupils and young people . The relevant dates and topics will be announced below.

The focus is on discovering, experimenting and creating using a variety of technologies, materials and ideas. Depending on the programme on offer, participants can, for example, work with digital tools, carry out small technical projects or develop their own creative media products.

25 November 2026 – digital Christmas cards (for children aged 6 to 10 – 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm)

_{Design your own electronic Christmas card! Together, we’ll make little creative cards that light up using lights, colours and simple circuits.}

_{You’ll have fun learning how electrical circuits work and how technology can be combined with paper, pens and Christmas ideas.}

_{At the end, you can take your self-designed Christmas card home with you or give it to a loved one.}

_{No prior knowledge is required.}

A look ahead to upcoming events

Further events are also being planned for the coming months. In cooperation with ME-Saar, there will once again be a programme for educational professionals.

In addition, we are once again planning, in collaboration with the Sprachkita specialist consultancy, a specialist and networking day on the topic of ‘STEM and Language’, which will focus on discussion, inspiration and practical examples.
