The LandRADsamt team saw 29 staff members pedalling hard, completing 398 journeys and clocking up a total of 7,795 km over the three-week campaign period. This meant the team’s performance improved by 50 per cent compared with the previous year.
Participation in the ‘Stadtradeln’ cycle challenge has been encouraged by the district administration for years – not only to incorporate physical activity into the working day, but also to strengthen team spirit across departments. District Administrator Frank John praised the staff’s commitment: “Cycling has many positive effects – it promotes health, boosts personal wellbeing and clears the mind. I’m delighted that so many colleagues have taken part again this year.”
As part of a small ceremony, the District Administrator presented awards to the most active members of the administration following the conclusion of the campaign. For the first time this year, Torsten Czech (1,000.9 km) became the first individual cyclist to break the 1,000-kilometre mark. He was closely followed by the top female cyclist, Jasmin Steinmetz, with 933.5 km. On average, the team clocked up an impressive 269 kilometres per person.
The ‘Stadtradeln’ initiative is now firmly established in many departments, and the size of the teams is growing year on year. Thanks to the sporting spirit that runs through the district administration, the campaign was once again a resounding success this year.
