This year, Warning Day will take place on 10 September 2026. From 11.00 am, a test alert will be sent out via all warning systems (such as apps, radio or via text message to mobile phones via cell broadcast). In addition, the sirens will sound. The all-clear will then be given at around 11.45 am.
The nationwide Warning Day has two main objectives: firstly, to test the technical warning infrastructure; and secondly, for the authorities to provide the public with up-to-date information on the subject of warnings and to highlight warning mechanisms (What is a warning message and how should I respond to one?). After all, only when everyone is familiar with the warning procedures and the actions they trigger can an emergency be handled smoothly.
