Daycare centre social work is an outreach, socio-spatially oriented service with a preventative, low-threshold approach. It is based on the principle of voluntariness and sees itself as an educational offer within the framework of child and youth welfare in accordance with the Eighth Social Code (SGB VIII).
Daycare centre social work is aimed at both the professionals and the families of the daycare centres and helps to identify needs at an early stage, develop tailored services and establish support networks. It offers professionals in child daycare centres an additional resource to meet the increasingly complex demands of everyday teaching. The central tasks include counselling and support for parents, referral to other support services and networking.
