Economic youth welfare
Service description
Economic Youth Welfare (WiHi) takes care of the financial aspects of the many individual cases and the various youth welfare projects.
The following services can be provided:
- in outpatient form: this means that your child continues to live at home and you or your child receive support in your own environment. In these cases, there is usually no cost contribution.
- in a day-care centre: Your child is looked after, for example, in a day group, day care or during the day in an institution. In this case, the cost contribution to be charged depends on the financial situation of the custodian in whose household the child lives.
- in residential care: this means that your child lives in an institution, foster family or other supervised form of youth welfare organisation during the day and overnight. You pay the child benefit as a contribution to the costs to the youth welfare office and it is also checked whether you can contribute further payments based on your income.
Parents, legal guardians, families, children, adolescents and young adults can access help primarily via the district social services of the district youth welfare office. However, they can also contact the family support centres and the foster children service for advice on the various forms of help available.
The Social Services Department of the Youth Welfare Office examines the necessity and suitability of the possible assistance and the Economic Youth Welfare Department also examines from an administrative law perspective whether the requirements for educational assistance are met.
The respective beneficiary is entitled to claim. These are
- for educational assistance:the person with parental authority
- for integration assistance: the child
- for assistance for young adults: the young adult him/herself
It is also the task of the economic youth welfare service to charge for the costs of the assistance provided by means of a benefit notice from the youth welfare office.
To do this, we need proof of monthly income from January to December (preferably the tax assessment notice) from the calendar year before the youth welfare benefit begins. If you have worked continuously for an employer during this period, it is sufficient if you send us the statement from December with the annual figures shown.
If you receive unemployment benefit I or II (ALG I or ALG II), please submit the notifications for the year in question.
If you receive a pension, we need the pension notifications from you for the year in question.
If you receive income from self-employment or business, please submit your most recent tax assessment.
We will be happy to help you to think of all documents and necessary proofs and are at your disposal for any further questions.
