Service description
The district police authority is responsible for enforcing the law on the placement of mentally ill persons in accordance with the PsychKHG.
According to this law, mentally ill persons can be placed in a psychiatric hospital or a psychiatric ward of a hospital against or without their will.Procedure
The application for accommodation must be submitted in writing to the guardianship court by the district police authority.
Prerequisites
The prerequisite is that the person concerned poses a considerable risk to their life, health, significant personal legal interests or significant legal interests of third parties due to their illness-related behaviour. These conditions must be proven by a current certificate from a doctor of psychiatry. The dependence on addictive substances associated with the loss of self-control can also justify hospitalisation.
