Assistance
Service description
At the written request of a parent, the Youth Welfare Office will assist the child with the following tasks:
- Determination of paternity/establishment of paternity
- Assertion of maintenance claims / maintenance certificate
The application can be submitted by a parent who is entitled to sole parental custody for the area of responsibility of the requested guardianship. If the parents have joint parental custody of the child, the application can be made by the parent who has custody of the child.
The child only acquires maintenance claims, inheritance and pension entitlements through the effective establishment of paternity.
Notarisation is possible at the youth welfare office and the registry office. A joint declaration of custody can only be notarised at the youth welfare office. The register of custody is kept at the Youth Welfare Office. If the father of the child does not voluntarily recognise paternity, an application can be made to the competent family court to establish paternity and pay maintenance. The Youth Welfare Office will help with this as part of the guardianship process. A written application to the Youth Welfare Office is sufficient to start a guardianship.
