Registration of a used vehicle from another EC country
Service description
You have purchased a used vehicle within the European Community.

Which documents are required?
- valid identity card with current address or current registration confirmation or valid passport with current registration confirmation
- for legal entities and companies: Extract from the commercial register, business registration, ID of the person authorised to sign (managing director, authorised signatory)
- Power of attorney for authorised representatives and their ID or passport (also applies to spouses)
- SEPA direct debit mandate for vehicle tax
- For minors: Declaration of consent by the parent or legal guardian
- EEC Certificate of Conformity (COC) or expert opinion according to §21 StVZO of the officially recognised expert
- Insurance confirmation (no insurance contract or policy)
- Notification required for VAT purposes on the intra-Community acquisition of a new motor vehicle (if the vehicle is not older than 6 months or has a mileage of less than 6,000 kilometres)
- original foreign vehicle documents
- If available, registration certificate part II + part I or old vehicle registration document/vehicle licence (if the vehicle has already been registered in Germany)
- Certificate of valid main inspection and emissions test (only if the vehicle is older than 3 years or is a self-drive hire vehicle)
- Vehicle presentation or certificate from a monitoring organisation regarding vehicle identification

What fees are charged?
Any fees incurred are charged on the basis of the Fee Regulations for Road Traffic Measures (GebOst).
