You want to test drive an unregistered vehicle before buying it or, for example, transfer it from A... to B... after a purchase
Please note that the short-term licence plate is valid for a maximum of 5 days from the day of application .

Which documents are required?
- Short-term licence plate application
- valid identity card with current address or current registration confirmation or valid passport with current registration confirmation
- for legal entities and companies: Extract from the commercial register, business registration, ID of the person authorised to sign (managing director, authorised signatory)
- Power of attorney for authorised representatives, as well as their ID or passport (also applies to spouses) if resident in Germany
- For minors: Declaration of consent from the parent or legal guardian and driving licence or severely disabled person's pass
- Electronic insurance confirmation eVB for "short-term licence plates"
- Vehicle documents (ZBI/ZBII/BE) in the original or clearly legible light-coloured copies for vehicles registered in Germany
- For motor vehicles registered abroad: only original registration certificates
- valid HU / SP*
- Declaration on the authorised recipient for an export licence plate or a short-term licence plate if there is no registered residence in Germany. (Authorised recipient must also appear in person if the German residence is not in the Saarpfalz district, excluding St. Ingbert)
*Important: Without operating licence and with expired HU/SP, only journeys to the nearest test centre in the Saarpfalz district and neighbouring districts are permitted.

What fees are charged?
Any fees incurred are charged on the basis of the Fee Regulations for Road Traffic Measures (GebOst).
