Services of the care authority
Service description
The guardianship authority offers information and counselling in all guardianship matters:
- It provides information about
- Lasting powers of attorney: In addition to an additional notarisation of the document, it is advisable to register the document with the Federal Chamber of Notaries in the Central Register of Lasting Powers of Attorney. In emergency situations, care courts and treating physicians can obtain information there about the existence of precautionary arrangements. Registration is subject to a one-off fee, which is usually between €20.00 and €30.00.
- Advance care directives: A care directive can be used to submit proposals to the court in advance as to which persons can be appointed as carers in an emergency situation. The guardianship court then decides whether the person will be appointed as a guardian or which persons will be appointed as guardians.
- The guardianship authority also advises on the need for legal guardianship in advance. It advises on whether the appointment of a guardian can be avoided by prioritising assistance, for example as part of extended support.
- The guardianship authority also assists in suggesting the establishment of legal guardianship.
- In cooperation with the St. Ingbert and Homburg guardianship courts, the overall life situation is then considered with regard to the establishment of such care, the need for care is determined and a care proposal is submitted to the court.
- Guardians and authorised representatives are supported and advised during their work by the guardianship authority - in cooperation with the DRK Betreuungsverein St. Ingbert and the ProMensch Betreuungsverein Kirkel-Limbach.
- Counselling appointments can be arranged by telephone with the care authority.
Literature on the subject of health care proxies, advance care directives and living wills can be obtained from the Ministry of Justice, among others
