Assumption of parental contributions

Parents with a low income whose children attend a day care centre or afternoon care at a district school or a primary school in the Saarpfalz district can apply for the parental contribution to be paid by the Department of Social Affairs, Integration and Volunteering. This applies to the following facilities:

Kindergarten
Kindergarten places are set up for the education and care of children who have reached the age of three until they start school. These so-called regular places include care for up to 6 hours.

Day care centre
In the day care centre, children are cared for in the same way as in kindergarten, but also over lunchtime. As a rule, a warm meal is also served.

Crèche
The crèche is a socio-educational facility that accepts children until they reach the age of three, i.e. until the transition to kindergarten or daycare centre, and is open in the mornings and afternoons.

After-school care
After-school care generally supports school-age children up to the age of twelve, in exceptional cases up to the age of fourteen. Childcare begins after the end of school lessons.

Afternoon care
Afternoon care takes place at schools and includes care for school-age children after school until 5.00 pm at the latest.
