At its new location, the centre benefits from more space, which allows for an expansion of its counselling services and more flexible appointment scheduling. A key advantage of the new location is its excellent accessibility: the new premises are centrally situated right next to the main railway station and are therefore well connected to local public transport. This means that families from across the region can reach the counselling centre quickly and easily.
On site, the new infrastructure ensures accessibility: whilst the facility used to be difficult for people with reduced mobility to access, it can now be reached easily via a lift. In addition, the new floor features a modern accessible toilet. These improvements benefit not only people with physical disabilities but also parents with pushchairs or very young children. With this structural modernisation, the family counselling centre now meets the legal requirements for inclusive youth support.
The new premises also enable the team to further expand its specialist areas of focus. Alongside traditional parenting advice, separation and divorce counselling, as well as qualified mediation, form the cornerstones of the service. Thanks to the increased space, important group sessions can now take place on-site once again. These include the certified parenting course ‘Strong Parents – Strong Children’ and a specialised group for children of separated parents, which offers those affected an opportunity to share experiences with one another.
“The mental health of children and parents requires not only time and a listening ear, but also a suitable, safe space,” emphasises District Administrator Frank John. “In our new premises, our counselling specialists can respond more flexibly to the individual needs of families, whether through discussions with parents, children and young people or through preventative group programmes. We are particularly proud that we are now truly an accessible and easily reachable point of contact for all families.”
