"Roof on, roof tight" - The Saarpfalz district's property management team's declared annual target for 2025 for the construction project of the three-court sports hall at the Rohrbach community school, which is currently being realised together with a new school building, has been achieved. District Administrator Frank John was able to see this for himself at the end of last year. The short tour with project manager Sascha Berndt from the Saarpfalz district's property management department was also joined by Jürgen Leroux, head of property management, architect Silvia Nikulski from the "fun" office, headteacher Susanne Fritz and head of teaching Markus Schwartz.
After the official ground-breaking ceremony in September 2025, he was very pleased with the progress of the construction work. "The building speaks for itself and even better: we are standing in the dry," commented the district administrator with a wink.
The shell of the sports hall was actually completed on schedule on 21 November 2025. A highlight on the construction site during this time was the delivery of the first roof trusses. A roof truss measures 28 metres in length, 2.84 metres in height, 0.28 metres in width and weighs around 8.8 tonnes. In view of the narrow construction site in relation to the massive roof trusses, we were confronted with a logistical bottleneck, which, however, was mastered without any problems thanks to the good cooperation between the responsible planners, companies and the haulage company: The "cover" fitted. As a result, the windows of the sports hall could be installed before the end of the year and the electrical work could be started earlier than expected.
After a short winter break over the Christmas period, work resumed in January. Now the interior plastering of the sports hall, the installation of the exterior doors and the roof and façade work are on the agenda. The shell construction for the school wing, including the technical floor, has also started without interruption.
District Administrator Frank John was pleased to hear from those involved in the project that the construction project as a whole was on schedule and within budget.
