With project funding from the Ministry of the Interior, Building and Sport, the Saarland Youth Fire Brigade was able to procure "experiment kits" for all Saarland fire brigades. The kits contain materials for 38 experiments on the topics of "burning and extinguishing". There is also a comprehensive accompanying concept with instructions and safety information as well as videos that show and explain how to carry out the experiments. In order to be able to realise the project with the financial means available, the experiment cases were assembled and packed independently thanks to the commitment of many helpers. For example, tea towels and cleaning sponges had to be cut and materials transferred from large containers to small packs, all for the 52 fire brigades in Saarland.
The Saarpfalz district was the first district to receive the experiment kits from the Saarland Youth Fire Service. The municipal and town youth officers from the seven fire brigades in the Saarpfalz district were invited to the handover event so that the materials could be passed on directly to the individual brigades. District Administrator Frank John and District Fire Chief Thomas Hauck took the opportunity to attend the handover and expressly emphasised their thanks to the Saarland Youth Fire Service. Dirk Sandmayer, representative of the Saarpfalz district youth fire brigade, provided information about the materials used for youth work and training in the youth fire brigade. He made it clear that
"It was impressive to see what is possible when many people pull together. The Saarland youth fire service has done a really great job here, from which we are now all benefiting. This is enormously valuable for our work with young people."
