The operating times of the popular "Flitsaar" on-demand service in the Bickenalbtal valley have now been permanently adjusted and optimised. The aim of the adjustment is to link the service even more closely to actual demand and thus increase the efficiency and attractiveness of the services.
At the beginning of the year, the service was extended to 9 p.m. during the week on a trial basis and an additional vehicle was deployed in the afternoon. This measure proved so successful that the district council agreed to the continuation of the new operating hours at its most recent meeting.
In addition, the service times at weekends have now been better adapted to actual demand. On Saturdays, the bus is now available one hour longer (until 9 pm). This gives passengers more flexibility for evening activities.
On Sunday mornings, service times will now be adjusted slightly due to the lower demand in the very early hours of the morning. In future, the Flitsaar will start at 8 a.m. (previously 7 a.m.).
"By shifting the service times, we are responding directly to the usage habits of our passengers," explains District Administrator Frank John. "The extension on Saturday evenings meets a real need and makes the Flitsaar even more attractive for leisure activities at the weekend, while we can utilise resources more efficiently on Sunday mornings."
The Flitsaar is now available Monday to Friday from 5.30 am to 9 pm, on Saturdays from 7 am to 9 pm and on Sundays from 8 am to 8 pm. Bookings can be made via the Flitsaar app, the website www.flitsaar.de, or by phone on (06841) 104-72 52.
The Flitsaar is part of the local public transport system and can therefore be used at the regular saarVV rates or with the Deutschlandticket.
