Magdalena Baspinar-Görlinger, care counsellor at the care support centre in the Saarpfalz district, has opened a regulars' table for family carers. She recently presented the project, which is a matter close to her heart, to District Administrator Frank John. "I have long harboured the desire to set up a discussion group like this. Through my work at the care support centre, I naturally hear directly about the worries and needs of people who are caring for a relative at home. I also know from personal experience what efforts are involved in this work. I am grateful that the Saarpfalz district and the DRK-Ortsverein Ormesheim e. V. support my initiative," explained the care counsellor. At regular meetings, she would like to focus primarily on family carers and help them in their care situation. She is convinced that carers can recharge their batteries at the meetings and through mutual exchange. And it should be anything but bitterly serious. "If someone comes just to enjoy a little time out in company and with coffee and cake, then I have already achieved my goal," added Magdalena Baspinar-Görlinger.
The meetings, which include coffee and cake prepared by a volunteer, usually take place every fourth Wednesday of the month from 2 to 4 pm at the DRK-Heim, Theo-Carlen-Platz, in Ormesheim. Participation is free of charge.
District Administrator Frank John was impressed by the initiative: "The Saarpfalz district is very happy to support Mrs Baspinar-Görlinger's commitment and I am grateful to her and the care support centre for this offer, which is appreciative of family carers. Carers are a mainstay of our care system and their valuable social commitment is not necessarily recognised as such by society or even by their personal environment. These people often reach the limits of their resilience, especially of a psychological nature. I hope that as many citizens as possible who find themselves in a care situation will take the opportunity to take part in the regulars' table so that it can become established."
And as soon as the discussion group is established, Magdalena Baspinar-Görlinger would also like to attract speakers on various care topics.
Due to the holiday situation, the next regulars' table meeting will take place on Wednesday, 13 August, from 2 to 4 pm at the DRK-Heim, Theo-Carlen-Platz, in Mandelbachtal / Ormesheim. If you have any questions about the regulars' table for family carers, please contact the care support centre in the Saarpfalz district, Magdalena Baspinar-Görlinger, on (06841) 104-8060, or email [email protected]. Registration is desirable for organisational reasons, but not a prerequisite.
