After leaving school, young people often have no concrete plans for their future education or career. Whether training, studies, a stay abroad or an interim career solution - the choice is huge and the decision is often difficult. This is where the Saarpfalz district's Youth and Work Coordination Centre comes in. It has been offering help with career orientation and integration for 25 years.
The programme is aimed at all young people and young adults aged between 16 and 25 in the district. The aim of the coordination centre is to identify career prospects, promote existing strengths and open up possible paths into training, studies or employment. Its services include Support in the search for training, study or jobs; help with the preparation of application documents, advice on further training, pre-vocational measures and training programmes; referral to the careers advice service of the employment agency, the job centre or other suitable agencies; contact function also for personal questions and problems.
The counselling service is not only open to young people, but can also be used by parents who would like to support their children in their professional orientation. Employers can also contact the coordination centre, for example if they have questions about finding an apprenticeship, funding opportunities or working with young people.
District Administrator Frank John puts it in a nutshell: "Sometimes you just lack confidence in your own abilities. The coordination centre shows how many opportunities there are out there. I can only urge young people to seize this opportunity and seek advice if they need it."
The service is free to use and no application or income check is required. Appointments can be made by telephone or e-mail.
The Youth and Work Coordination Office is funded by the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Women and Health and the European Social Fund Plus as part of the "Investment in Employment and Growth" programme.
