The Saarpfalz district has expanded the group of private companies that will help with services and material assistance in the event of a major emergency. This means that 20 companies are now listed in this initiative in the area of civil defence. The company representatives - all supporters were invited to the event - came to the district administration office to sign the contract with District Administrator Dr Theophil Gallo. The group was completed by Nina Spaniol, Head of Department at the district police authority, Jörg Zimmermann and Mike Schönberger, civil protection employees, as well as fire inspector Stefan Schrögler.
District Administrator Dr Theophil Gallo: "Last year's Whitsun floods showed us that we cannot do without our cooperation partners and that we can rely on them. I would like to thank them once again for this. Our emergency services are well organised. But we will certainly not miss the opportunity to make it even more sustainable. That is why we are here today and I am delighted to be able to welcome new companies into the circle of co-operation partners. Unfortunately, we will have to expect more major damage events caused by natural forces in the future. And, of course, it is important to be well prepared for accidents in industrial plants or large-scale power failures. In the event of a crisis or disaster, private companies close this gap of necessary requirements, for which only they can provide the capacities and products and in turn enable us to call them up at short notice."
The additional services and benefits in kind range from the provision of containers, machines, power generators, lighting masts, small appliances and transport facilities to the use of petrol stations and the Kirkel-Neuhäusel waterworks.
The new partners are Gemeindewerke Kirkel GmbH, Molter-Hollinger Entsorgungs GmbH and Peter Gross Bau Holding GmbH. The provision of an additional service has been contractually agreed with Werner Schöndorf Speditionsgesellschaft, which is already involved.
