Citizen information about energy
Every kilowatt hour of gas and electricity saved counts. Energy has already been and is being saved in many places in Germany and here in the Saarpfalz district. Energy that is saved does not have to be produced, transported and procured at great expense.
If everyone joins in, i.e. the district administration and you at home, we will reach our goal faster. That's why every little action we take counts.
The district administration is already on its way
- The refurbishment of buildings and systems technology is organised in such a way that the required energy is used as efficiently as possible.
- We are moving away from fossil fuels such as oil and natural gas. For example, we purchase green electricity for all our properties, convert heating systems to renewable energies and install PV systems.
- The aim is to achieve a climate-neutral building stock.
- Charging infrastructure is being created to convert the vehicle fleet to low-emission drives and for public charging.

Energy advice / webinars from the consumer advice centre
The consumer advice centre's free, personal consultations are held regularly at the district administration in Homburg as well as in Blieskastel, Kirkel and St. Ingbert.
Telephone advice, online advice and seminars from the consumer advice centre are also available free of charge. In Saarland, they are part of the Saarland energy counselling campaign.
Energy-saving tips in several languages
Energy-saving check project for people on low incomes
The increased cost of electricity and fuel is hitting the unemployed, low-income earners and older people with small pensions particularly hard. Even before the energy price crisis, they had to spend around ten per cent of their income on energy costs. This makes quick and sustainable help all the more important. This is provided by the free energy-saving advice programme, sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection.
If you take advantage of the energy-saving advice, you can receive up to €200 for a new cooling appliance!
You can find information about the subsidy on the Energy Saving Check project website.
Utilisation of solar energy
In the ZENAPA project, a solar roof register was set up to assist with the planning and economic feasibility of a solar thermal (heat) or PV (electricity) system. The solar cadastre can be used free of charge.
Find subsidy offers for your home & energy consultants
The Energiewechsel.de website directs you to the relevant subsidy programmes and energy consultants. You can find energy consultants for the federal government's funding programmes in the list of energy efficiency experts.
It should be noted that funding opportunities change frequently. It is also important to ensure that the information is up to date when carrying out further internet research.
Energy-saving measures and drinking water
The Saarpfalz district health authority has published an information sheet on energy-saving measures in relation to drinking water.
