Saarpfalz-Kreis as an employer

  • About the district administration

The administration of the Saarpfalz district, headed by District Administrator Frank John, sees itself as a modern service organisation and has its headquarters in Homburg "Am Forum". There are also numerous branch offices: The youth welfare office in Homburg, the family support centres in Bexbach and St. Ingbert as well as the branch offices of the job centre in Homburg, Blieskastel and St. Ingbert, the audit office in the branch office in Kirkel and all secondary schools in the Saarpfalz district.

At the district administration, around 750 employees work every day to provide the citizens of the Saarpfalz district with a wide range of services. As a future-proof public employer, the district administration is responsible for numerous exciting areas such as transport, district police, school administration, public transport or social and youth welfare. The wide range of services offered by the Saarpfalz district for all towns and municipalities belonging to the district also touches on the needs of many residents (f/m/d) in the district area.

  • The Saarpfalz district as a region

The Saarpfalz district is home to around 145,000 people.

Extensive orchards and species-rich orchid meadows, old beech forests and an enchanted meadow landscape are the characteristic landscape elements of the Bliesgau in the south of the region, which was recognised as a UNESCO biosphere reserve in May 2009.

This scenic charm is complemented by the medium-sized town of St. Ingbert with its industrial culture and extensive cultural offerings. In addition, many manufacturing companies are located here, including large corporations such as Bosch and Michelin in the northern part of the district and the Hager Group in Blieskastel.

Our district with its towns and municipalities of Homburg, St. Ingbert, Blieskastel, Bexbach, Mandelbachtal, Kirkel and Gersheim is a diverse cultural region between Saarland, the Palatinate and France. The balanced, even laid-back Saar Palatinate way of life is proverbial and entices all visitors and friends to share in it.

The gently undulating landscape, which is criss-crossed by the Blies, the river that gives the region its name, can ideally be explored on foot on one of the designated premium hiking trails with a high adventure value. Of course, the most beautiful corners of the region can also be reached by bike, e-bike or on horseback. Canoe or raft trips and donkey hikes are just the thing for the particularly active.
