Voluntary services

The Voluntary Ecological Year (F ÖJ) is an offer to anyone who not only wants to talk and read about nature and environmental protection, but also wants to put it into practice out of conviction, interest and fun. The FÖJ is organised by the district administration in Homburg in the department for sustainable development/mobility; possible locations can also be the Haus Lochfeld Cultural Landscape Centre in Wittersheim or the European Cultural Park in Reinheim. Regardless of the location, there are numerous outdoor assignments and outdoor work throughout the Saarpfalz district throughout the year.
The Federal Volunteer Service (BFD ) is an offer to interested people (f/m/d) of all ages to get involved in the common good outside of work and school - in social, ecological and cultural areas. The programmes not only enable interested people to do something useful over a longer period of time by getting involved in society, but also offer guidance. Every year, the Saarpfalz district offers interested people the opportunity to volunteer in the Women's Office and the Sustainable Development/Mobility Unit.
Voluntary Ecological Year/ Federal Voluntary Service at the Unit for Sustainable Development and Mobility
We offer you an exciting range of diverse topics. Depending on your interests, you can support us in the planning and organisation of local public transport, the planning and supervision of tourist cycle routes, management to promote sustainable mobility and the maintenance of landscape and nature conservation areas. The diverse range of tasks ensures an attractive mix of practical work on site (e.g. in the idyllic Bliesgau region and at the Haus Lochfeld cultural landscape centre in Wittersheim) and in our offices in Homburg city centre. We also offer you space to realise your own projects.
You can collaborate here:
Christian Stein, Saarpfalz districtAt the Haus Lochfeld Cultural Landscape Centre in Wittersheim , our FÖJ volunteers and federal volunteers can put their green fingers to the test and gain experience in sowing, tending and harvesting in the herb and cottage garden or harvesting and processing fruit in autumn. You can also actively support us in the organisation and supervision of excursions, at picture lectures or art exhibitions, and in looking after children, young people and school classes.
Stein Christian, © Eike Dubois, TZSIn the tourism sector, you can support us in planning and recording tourist cycle routes, signposting and recreational facilities. If you enjoy being out and about and want to explore the Saarpfalz district, you can carry out route inspections or mapping work independently with the service e-bike or support us in promoting sustainable mobility, e.g. in "city cycling".
Eike Dubois, Saarpfalz-TouristikThe organisation of bus services in the Saarpfalz district is also part of our staff unit. Here, too, there are a variety of tasks, such as checking buses and bus stops, planning leisure activities with public transport integration or marketing measures, in which you can actively participate.
Christian SteinIn landscape conservation, we ensure that nature and landscape conservation areas are preserved. This involves, for example, regularly clearing areas of bushes and cutting back shrubs. In addition, a wide variety of animal and plant habitats must be maintained and, for example, old vineyard walls must be rebuilt or fruit trees planted and maintained.
In the office you can help with the digitisation of environmentally relevant data, working with various software such as MS Word, Excel or GIS (Geographical Information System), outdoor mapping, aerial photo analysis, etc.
A car driving licence is desirable in order to be able to carry out the various tasks during field work. We have an electric car and an electric service bike. We can provide protective work clothing if required.
We attach great importance to independent work and offer you the best conditions in our team so that you can also incorporate your own ideas and projects into our work. We look forward to seeing you!
Federal Volunteer Service at the Women's Office of the Saarpfalz District as a recognised place of assignment
Since 1988, the Women's Office has represented the interests of women from the entire Saarpfalz district and within the district administration and has a diverse portfolio of tasks.
A key focus of its work is the promotion of projects, institutions, organisations, associations and groups relevant to women. In some cases, individual advice for women on site and referrals to specialised advice centres are also part of its activities. Public relations work and the conception and implementation of projects to improve the professional and social situation of women should also be emphasised.
The Saarpfalz District Women's Office has been offering childcare facilities for several projects for years.
During your Federal Voluntary Service (BFD), you will look after children and young people according to their age and can thus support young people in their development process by helping to implement group and individual programmes. This will give you your first impressions and insights into project work and professional child and youth care.
You can also gain an insight into office work (e.g. working with software such as MS Word and Excel) or you can help with public relations and course organisation, etc.
