Adoption options
Adoption
An adoption takes place when the birth parents decide that the child will not grow up and live with them. This is a difficult and responsible decision for the birth parents and can have very different reasons. The adoption agency searches for the best possible parents for the child, with the child's welfare always taking centre stage. If a suitable family can be found, the child initially lives with the adoptive family as part of an adoption foster care programme until the family court has decided on the adoption. After that, the adoptive parents have the same rights as biological parents.
Stepchild adoption/relative adoption
In many families, a child grows up with a stepparent who has a close and familiar relationship with them and the stepparent has long felt like mum or dad. In some cases, a stepchild adoption can be useful to give this relationship a legal framework. This gives the child the same rights as a biological child - for example in terms of inheritance rights or in the event of separation.
The same applies to families in which a child grows up with relatives.

Root search
At some point, many adopted children and adults feel the desire to find out more about their origins. Where do I come from? Who are my biological parents? Do I have any siblings? Tracing your roots can help answer these questions and give you a better understanding of your own identity.
The adoption placement centre supports and accompanies adoptees and their birth parents in their search for information. If desired, the adoption placement centre can provide support and assistance in making initial contact with the birth parents or other relatives.
If you would like to search for your roots, we will be happy to assist you. Please contact us for a non-binding consultation.
