This year, the "Meilenstein" project of AQuiS GmbH once again took part in the "Saarland picobello" waste collection campaign organised by the Saar Waste Disposal Association (EVS) to help keep the environment clean.
The project's teenagers and young adults set off on a spring clean together with the educational staff and specialist instructors. Equipped with gloves, tongs and rubbish bags, they energetically collected all kinds of litter with the aim of making Beederstraße, where the "Meilenstein" project is based, "picobello".
The hard-working collectors filled a total of nine rubbish bags with all kinds of rubbish and rubbish. They came across items such as hubcaps, underwear, drinks, food and sweets packaging and countless cigarette butts on the pavements and open spaces to be cleaned up. The rubbish bags were finally taken to an EVS disposal facility.
District Administrator Dr Theophil Gallo commented: "It is sad that such actions are needed, where volunteers iron out the irresponsibility of some people who seem to lack decency and respect for our environment and who leave their rubbish behind recklessly, even though there are plenty of opportunities for proper disposal. All this is possible with a little good will. This makes the commitment of young people in this matter all the more deserving of our respect. I would like to thank the participants in the "Milestone" project for their exemplary behaviour."
The "Meilenstein" project is funded by the ESF Plus, the Saarland Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Women and Health and the Saarpfalz-Kreis Job Centre.
