The "MINT" disciplines of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology are shaping the everyday lives of children and young people more than ever before and are making a decisive contribution to solving the major challenges of our time.
As part of the "MINT Cluster III" funding programme of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Saarpfalz district and its staff unit for shaping social change, education and demography have therefore joined the Saarland network "SaarMINT". As part of this process, the Saarpfalz district itself has set itself the goal of finding out more about the needs of educational stakeholders in the district, networking interested stakeholders locally and working with them to find ways to bring more STEM programmes for six to sixteen-year-old children and young people "into the area" in the long term. The focus will be on supporting girls and educationally disadvantaged children and young people.
In order to successfully implement this project, we would like to utilise the expertise and perspectives of the educational stakeholders and STEM players in the Saarpfalz district. We therefore invite all interested parties to take part in the first networking event for the Saarpfalz district."
The event is intended to help find out what challenges educational stakeholders, companies, associations, etc. see in their area of work with regard to STEM education programmes for children and young people and to provide space to find common points of contact for cooperation. Christine Streichert-Clivot, Saarland's Minister of Education, and Esra Limbacher, the SPD parliamentary group's SME representative in the Bundestag, will also liven up the event. The first network meeting will take place in the parliamentary wing of the Homburg Forum on Wednesday, 5 February, from 9 am to 1 pm. Registration is required by 28 January at: https://eveeno.com/mint-saarpfalz. The event is aimed at anyone who would like to contribute to STEM education in the Saarpfalz district - be it through expertise in these subjects, an interest in getting in touch with educational stakeholders or the desire to integrate offers into their own educational, club or youth work. The opportunity can be used to network and exchange ideas with other stakeholders.
