Great holiday and leisure activities offered by the youth welfare service

The brochure with the leisure activities offered by the municipal youth welfare services is hot off the press and is being distributed in the towns and municipalities and the district, the information centre in the district youth welfare office and in the district administration. It is also available for download on the Saarpfalz district homepage. The current focus is on efforts to anchor the idea of inclusion in the holiday programme. Attempts are being made to enable children and young people with disabilities to participate in the programme. The programme items "Parent-child painting" and the "Parent-child trip" to the Parc Merveilleux in Luxembourg, accompanied by parents and guardians, are a good start.

Musicals

Three day trips to the well-known musicals "The Ice Queen", "Tabaluga and Lilli" and "Starlight Express" are on the programme. The Apollo Theatre in Stuttgart, where "Die Eiskönigin" is performed, even offers a look behind the scenes. The ARTefix - Summer Academy of the Freie Kunstschule Saarpfalz e.V. also offers an insight into what it takes to put on a musical. Children aged eight to 13 can develop their own musical at the "Musical Kids" workshop. They learn how to use their voice skilfully, slip into an acting role and develop scenes.

Varied activities such as yoga for children, climbing in the climbing park, kite making or a chocolate workshop are available locally in the district. The vibrant global metropolis of London and the Croatian Adriatic are worthwhile destinations for those who want to travel further afield. "The Saarpfalz district has been committed to democracy, diversity and interculturality since 2016 as part of the federal "Live Democracy!" programme, which also includes the Saarpfalz Youth Forum. Here, young people have the opportunity to independently initiate democracy-promoting projects with a self-managed budget," says District Administrator Dr Theophil Gallo, explaining what the cooperation partner has to offer. Other cooperation partners of the municipal youth welfare service are the district of Neunkirchen, the Caritas Children's Centre, the Saar Fishing Association, the Ökolog. Schullandheim Spohns Haus and the Coordination Centre for Sustainable Youth Work. During the four-day Easter holiday camp, young people can obtain a fishing licence from the latter and learn interesting facts about animal and nature conservation as well as the Blies itself.

The programmes, accompanied by responsible and trained teams of supervisors, are aimed at children and young people of different ages from the Saarpfalz district and the district of Neunkirchen.
