Specialist advisors and officers appointed

The Saarpfalz district has appointed new specialist officers and consultants in fire and civil protection for the term of office of fire inspector Stefan Schrögler. Not all of them are actually new to these functions. However, they all have one thing in common: they are experts in their field.

The fire inspector personally presented the certificates of appointment, signed by District Administrator Dr Theophil Gallo and Stefan Schrögler, at a small ceremony at the district administration office in the presence of his predecessor Uwe Wagner and the district fire chiefs Steffen Rastetter and Thomas Hauck.

The specialist advisors are part of the Saarland Fire Protection, Technical Assistance and Disaster Control Act (SBKG), who are involved in fire and disaster control training and contribute their expertise to hazard prevention measures. The specialist officers, who also work on a voluntary basis, advise and support the fire inspector, the district fire chiefs and the fire chiefs of the municipal fire brigades in the Saarpfalz district.

"I am happy and grateful to have a very reliable team around me, some of whom have remained loyal to me from Uwe Wagner's time in office. I am particularly pleased that there is also a female firefighter who can specifically take care of the concerns of the girls in the youth fire brigades," emphasised Stefan Schrögler.

The specialist officers are named below, together with their function: Dirk Sandmeyer - Youth Firefighting Officer, Markus Menges - Deputy Youth Firefighting Officer, Martina Krauss - Deputy Youth Firefighting Officer, Kevin Bieringer - Youth Firefighting Competitions Officer, Philipp Burgard - Head of the Specialist Command Support Group (FUG), Michael Mörschbächer - Deputy Head of the FUG, Oliver Konz - Radio and Communications Technology, Holger Vogelgesang - deputy radio officer, Martin Weinmann - CBRN officer and platoon leader (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear substances), Manuel Langenbahn - deputy CBRN officer and platoon leader, Peter Wachs - breathing apparatus officer / breathing apparatus vehicle, and Christian Feller - deputy officer for the breathing apparatus vehicle.

The following are involved as specialist advisors in fire and disaster protection: Holger Sonn - electricity, Dr Andreas Wöhr - nuclear hazards, Dominic Klein - nuclear hazards and chemical hazards, Prof. Dr Barbara Gärtner - biological hazards, Dr Alfred Ullrich - chemical hazards, and Sascha Schoepe - chemical hazards.

District Administrator Dr Theophil Gallo: "I would also like to express my sincere thanks to all the specialist officers and advisors for their exemplary commitment, which makes a remarkable contribution to the safety of our community. We are facing new challenges in civil protection, that cannot be denied, and for this we need people who use their expertise to act effectively in an emergency, who strengthen cooperation between different players and thus also the structures in civil protection, and who contribute their experience to any measures."

Fire inspector a. Uwe Wagner took the opportunity to award the German Fire Brigade Cross of Honour in bronze, which was not available until the official award ceremony last December, to the following in an equally dignified setting: Till Becker (Oberwürzbach fire brigade), Holger Sonn (Blieskastel fire brigade), Holger Vogelgesang (in absentia / Mandelbachtal fire brigade) and Martin Weinmann (Kirkel fire brigade).
