The Saarpfalz district is a district for a lifetime. Because it accompanies and supports people of all ages. With the re-run of the "Active in old age" fair at the end of March in the Homburg Forum, the Saarpfalz district once again impressively demonstrated that it can also reach its citizens very well through the organisation of events and place its topics in a target group-oriented manner.
There were also suggestions as to what could be improved at the 2026 event, and these will also be implemented as far as possible. Alexandra Christmann thanked everyone who contributed to the success of the trade fair - a motivational boost for her to firmly anchor the trade fair in the event calendar in future. "It was an all-round successful event," agreed Carmen Scheidhauer, Head of Social Affairs, Integration and Volunteering at the district council.
District Councillor Esra Limbacher kicked off the fair on behalf of District Administrator Dr Theophil Gallo: "We all want to be able to live as independently and actively as possible for as long as possible, remain active and gain experience. Good provision is essential for this," said Esra Limbacher in his welcoming address, summarising the purpose of the event. His tour of the stands was also joined by the future District Administrator Frank John.
The hands-on activities such as the memory training organised by Susanne Fehrenz from the care support centre and the everyday fitness test from the Saarland Gymnastics Association also made a decisive contribution to the success of the senior citizens' fair.
"I would particularly like to thank Bernhard Mischo from Lauftreff Bliesmengen-Bolchen e. V., and Kirstin Vogelgesang from Prießnitz-Kneipp-Verein Bexbach, who supported Christina Scholl , Vice President of the Saarland Gymnastics Federation for the area of leisure and health sports, with the everyday fitness test. We would also like to thank TUS Höchen, who invited visitors to take part in small games of skill in the foyer. Diet and exercise are essential to stay fit and also to counteract loneliness. I am very pleased that there are so many clubs and volunteers in the Saarpfalz district," said Alexandra Christmann.
The senior citizens' safety advisors were also on site on a voluntary basis to provide information about trickery and the "grandchild trick", for example.
"Thanks to Ms Christmann and her team, the Saarpfalz district was able to organise an event, as it did last year, that is geared towards the needs of an age group and at the same time also specifically addresses younger people through the topic of pension provision. We are therefore very close to our citizens, can provide low-threshold information and once again support our senior citizens. This fair is a good thing and deserves to be continued," District Administrator Dr Theophil Gallo is certain.
