If you live in Germany permanently, you can be naturalised under certain conditions. People who live in the Saarpfalz district apply for naturalisation at the Saarpfalz district police authority. It is now possible to complete and submit the application online.
The actual application is preceded by a quick check. By answering a few questions, the chances of success for naturalisation can be checked in advance without obligation. The requirements include, among other things, that the applicant fulfils a minimum period of residence in Germany (usually five years), can support themselves and has sufficient knowledge of German. To submit the actual application, the applicant must then register using BundID or an e-mail address and password. Applications are transmitted to the authorities end-to-end in encrypted form.
District Administrator Dr Theophil Gallo commented: "The digital naturalisation application makes the naturalisation process easier for people who have lived, worked and contributed to the region for years. This is because a large part of it can now be completed conveniently from home at any time - regardless of the administration's opening hours. The digital application guides users through the process step by step. Required documents can be easily uploaded. The quick check is particularly practical and helpful: after just a few clicks, it is clear right at the start of the process whether the requirements for naturalisation have been met."
Background
This online service is a service based on the Online Access Act (OZG) and was implemented according to the "one-for-all" (EfA) model. The "Naturalisation" online service offers a web front-end for applicants to process and submit their application.
The OZG service is assigned to the subject area "Immigration & Emigration" and was realised by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in the first instance. The centre responsible for operations there is d-NRW AöR, an institution under public law. The service is operated, maintained and updated by the IT service provider "Anstalt für Kommunale Datenverarbeitung in Bayern" (AKDB) on behalf of d-NRW AöR.
The online service is being rolled out in the districts in cooperation with the OZG team of the eGo-Saar special-purpose association. The regional association acted as a pilot municipality.
In the Saarpfalz district, the application route also tested positive and has now been added to the Saarpfalz district website: https://www.buergerservice-portal.de/saarland/lkrsaarpfalzkreis/einbuergerung.
