This year, the Saarpfalz district will once again be holding a Christmas party on Christmas Eve, 24 December, in the Thomas-Morus-Haus in Homburg-Erbach.
The celebration, which begins with lunch and ends with coffee and cake, will be open to all citizens with limited seating: Families, senior citizens, lonely people and/or people at risk of poverty are to be given a few carefree hours.
Alexandra Christmann, head of the Saarpfalz District Volunteer Exchange, is looking for helping hands to organise this special event. Helpers are also welcome on 23 December and 27 December for setting up and dismantling (one to two hours).
"Christmas Eve under the Christmas tree with the whole family is not or no longer a matter of course in many places, even if it is desirable. We don't want to leave people who don't want to be alone on Christmas Eve or who can't afford a festive get-together on their own to fend for themselves. This requires the commitment of fellow human beings who actually take the time to participate in and help organise this event. I am aware that most people are busy with their own planning and errands and are also looking forward to days of reflection. But perhaps one does not exclude the other and so I am happy about any support we can find. I am also pleased about this initiative of the Saarpfalz District Volunteer Exchange, which has almost become a tradition," says District Administrator Dr Theophil Gallo, addressing all citizens.
Anyone who would like to help out on 23, 24 or 27 December can register with the Volunteer Exchange, either directly at https://eveeno.com/302742131 or by contacting Alexandra Christmann on (06841) 104-8405 or by email at [email protected].
