In recent years, the Saarpfalz district youth welfare office has been intensively involved in the prevention of and intervention in cases of sexual abuse. It sees the need to maintain the quality of specialist counselling at a high level.
In the course of dealing with individual cases, the professional procedure at the youth welfare office has been given new standards and has become more firmly established. The important role of nursery school teachers, teachers and other trusted persons in clubs and associations has become more prominent. It is precisely through vigilant, sensitive perceptions and reports from children's close environment that information is repeatedly provided that leads to the detection and thus protection of children from abuse and assault. It is a particular concern of the Youth Welfare Office to sensitise people from the close environment of children to vigilant and boundary-respecting behaviour on the part of adults when dealing with children and young people.
In addition to the youth welfare office of the Saarpfalz district, the specialist counselling centres in Saarland can offer support. One of the specialist counselling centres for this area is "Nele - Fachberatungsstelle für sexuell missbrauchte Mädchen und junge Frauen". In addition, "Phoenix - Counselling Centre against Sexual Exploitation of Boys" also offers telephone help in suspected cases. The "SOS Counselling Centre for Child Protection" in Saarbrücken acts as a cross-gender point of contact to discuss further action.
District Administrator Dr Theophil Gallo is grateful for the Youth Welfare Office's more extensive child protection activities and explicitly supports this increase in quality for the benefit of children and young people. "In addition to the intensive and specialised training of the youth welfare office's specialists in providing specialist advice in suspected cases of sexual abuse, I also expressly welcome the increased awareness of specialists in schools and daycare centres. Child protection must continue to be expanded in the future."
