What visitors can expect in 2024.
On 15 March, the cross-border archaeology park and the tavern (run by CJD Homburg) will once again open their doors to visitors.
Right at the beginning, on 15 March, an opening tour will be offered at 3 pm. On Easter Sunday and Monday, families can go in search of the hidden Easter eggs in the grounds and museums of the cultural park. If you find the right number of eggs, you will receive a sweet surprise at the ticket offices in the Fürstinnengrab, the Maison Jean Schaub or the exhibition centre in Bliesbruck.
Families can discover how a Roman road was built, how a Roman tiled roof was covered or how underfloor heating was installed in the new building B8 and get hands-on. The shelter above building B10 is located in the immediate vicinity. This houses a building discovery in its original state. A footbridge construction allows visitors to walk over the historical remains of the building and explore the findings.
In addition to the annual events such as the Children's Festival on 26 May and the Vita Romana on 10 and 11 August, there will be another highlight in the foyer of the Princesses' Tomb: To mark the 70th anniversary of the discovery of the Princesses' Tomb, there will be a small special exhibition from 18 May, which will shed light on the history of research with a particular focus on the grave goods. The supporting programme with exciting lectures on the topic and a Celtic action weekend round off the exhibition.
There will be a taster tour every first Sunday of the month at 11am.
On 6 April and 5 October at 2 pm, the Kulturpark offers special guided tours for senior citizens. The special needs of this group of people, such as walking slowly or speaking louder, are taken into account.
Guided tours for children will take place during the summer and autumn holidays. Curiosity and questions of all kinds are welcome.
The museum areas in the European Cultural Park are open from 15 March to 31 October as follows: Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 17:00 and Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 10:00 to 18:00. The museums are closed on the first of May.
The tavern is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 12:00 to 18:00. Monday is a day off. If a public holiday falls on the day of rest, the tavern is open. The compensatory rest day then falls on the next day (Tuesday).
