Summer time-out in the herb workshop

As part of its summer academy at Haus Lochfeld in Wittersheim, the Saarpfalz district adult education centre is offering a five-day "herb workshop" from 5 August under the direction of Sabine Boas. At first glance, a colourful meadow is nothing out of the ordinary. But take a closer look and you will find a little world of its own. Many plants known as "weeds" are medicinal plants or edible wild herbs. On a leisurely walk, participants discover the plant wonderland with all their senses. Edible flowers, herbs and wild fruits are collected, which are then used as ingredients for homemade delicacies. Whether as aromatic blossom sugar, spicy herbal salt, colourful flower vinegar, nourishing ointment or soothing oxymel - every herb finds its purpose. The whole thing is packaged nicely in bottles and jars and decorated with a label. At the end of the "herb workshop", everyone can take their own "summer in a jar" home with them.

The course starts every day at 10 am and ends around 4 pm. The participation fee is 170 euros. Materials are charged according to consumption.
