Klara doesn't want to go to bed, Leon refuses to switch off the computer and Maike keeps quiet about her bad grades. Paul teases his sister, Sarah only eats sweets and Tim doesn't tidy his room. Every mother and father knows these or similar behaviours that challenge them in their educational work. In the usual stress of everyday life, this can lead to full-blown conflicts. In situations where parents feel at a loss and run out of ideas, it can be helpful to seek support in order to tackle family challenges with renewed courage. The course works with parents to help families grow together. "The German Child Protection Association's parenting course programme has been successfully evaluated scientifically. The course concept has been tried and tested in the Saarpfalz district for over 15 years. I am delighted that the course can be offered again this year," explains District Administrator Dr Theophil Gallo.
The parenting course starts on Wednesday, 18 September at 9:30 am at the Psychological Counselling Centre, Am Forum 3, 66424 Homburg. It comprises a total of ten course units, each lasting two hours, and is aimed at parents of children and young people of all ages.
The course is run by the two employees of the Saarpfalz District Psychological Counselling Centre, qualified psychologist Matthias Feind and qualified social worker Christian Eckhardt-Schug. There is a charge of 20 euros per person or 30 euros per couple for participation.
In addition to this preventative group service, the advice centre also offers families the opportunity to receive individual advice, e.g. on parenting issues or family changes due to the separation or divorce of parents.
