Travel by bus, train or bike if possible

After a very successful biosphere festival in Erfweiler-Ehlingen last year, the festival will take place in Kleinblittersdorf this summer. On Sunday, 30 June, from 10 am to 6 pm, all friends of the Bliesgau Biosphere are cordially invited to join in the celebrations, visit the many exciting hands-on and informational activities and feast on regional products throughout the event.

"In order to make travelling to the festival as easy as possible and at the same time climate-friendly, we refer to the numerous bus and train connections. As the organisers have announced, the number of parking spaces is limited, which is one of the reasons why we recommend travelling by bus, train or bike," says District Administrator Dr Theophil Gallo.

As the festival mile is located in the immediate vicinity of Kleinblittersdorf railway station, we recommend travelling by Saarbahn from Lebach/Saarbrücken or Sarreguemines. The exact departure times can be found on saarfahrplan.de or on the notice board at the respective railway station. On the day of the festival, an additional train section will be added to offer passengers more seats. By changing from the regional railway to the Saarbahn in Saarbrücken, Kleinblittersdorf can also be reached quickly and conveniently from Kirkel, St. Ingbert or Homburg.

The festival site is also well connected by bus. The biosphere bus, line 501, runs hourly from Homburg/Blieskastel via Gersheim to Kleinblittersdorf station. From Homburg/Blieskastel and Mandelbachtal, the R14 line will run more frequently on this Sunday and thus offer regular connections to the festival.

For anyone travelling by bus from the Saarpfalz district or the municipality of Kleinblittersdorf, we recommend the leisure ticket. With this ticket, up to 5 people can use the buses in the Saarpfalz district and in the municipality of Kleinblittersdorf (lines 501, R14, 507, 147) all day for just 6.50 euros. However, the ticket is not valid on trains, Saarbahn services or NVG buses.

If you want to travel throughout Saarland by train, Saarbahn and/or bus, you should use the saarVV day tickets. One, two or up to 5 people can travel cheaply and flexibly throughout the Saarland for €10.20, €11.30 or €21.70.

For all 2-wheel fans: Kleinblittersdorf is also easily accessible by bike. If you are cycling along the Saar from Saarbrücken or Saargemünd, you can reach the festival site directly via the Friendship Bridge between Grosbliederstroff and Kleinblittersdorf. From the direction of Bliesransbach, a cycle path leads along the road to the entrance to Kleinblittersdorf. You can also reach Kleinblittersdorf via the field paths from Sitterswald and Bliesgersweilermühle, some of which are signposted as "Velo visavis" cycle routes.

However, if you prefer to arrive by car, there are two car parks available. The festival site is easily accessible on foot from the car parks at the shopping centres in the direction of Auersmacher. Coming from Saarbrücken, parking is available at the roundabout in the direction of Bliesransbach, in the Brichelberg industrial estate. Shuttle buses run regularly from here to the festival mile and back. These are free of charge for guests thanks to the financial support of the Saarpfalz district.
