New bicycle repair station in Altheim

Last Friday, the ADAC Saarland handed over a new, fully equipped bicycle repair station to the Saarpfalz district and the town of Blieskastel. The much-used cycle touring car park at the sports centre in Blieskastel-Altheim was chosen as the location, which serves as the entrance to three tourist cycle routes and is idyllically situated in the Bickenalbtal valley. At the official inauguration ceremony, Michael Gindorf, Managing Director of ADAC Saarland, explained the motivation behind the project: "As a mobility club, ADAC is also committed to promoting cycling. Our members automatically enjoy a bicycle breakdown service with extensive benefits. With our repair stations, we want to help anyone travelling by bike in their everyday life and leisure time to help themselves, so that minor breakdowns or adjustments to the bike can be carried out quickly on site."

The chosen location in the Saarpfalz district is centrally located between several tourist cycle routes in southern Bliesgau and is very popular with cycle tourists due to the good parking facilities. The Bickenal loop, the European mill cycle path and the Velo Visavis cycle route network can be explored from here, reports Maurice Eickhoff, mobility manager of the Saarpfalz district.

District Administrator Dr Theophil Gallo thanks those responsible at the ADAC: "The ADAC also takes responsibility for cyclists, which is all too clear from the establishment of this repair station. And I am delighted that the districts are benefiting from this commitment. Let's hope that all cyclists enjoy this station for as long as possible, which certainly requires careful and target group-orientated use."

The new station is freely accessible and has, among other things, an integrated air pump and other versatile tools that can be used for the most common bicycle repairs.

Background:

As part of its holistic approach, the German Automobile Club ADAC is not only committed to car traffic, but also supports projects in the field of cycling. In addition to the "bicycle school" for children and e-bike courses for adults, a total of 6 new bicycle repair stations will be handed over to municipal partners in the districts over the course of the year.
