With the change of operator in the southern district on 1 January, a new type of flexible bus service will be introduced in parts of the Blieskastel municipal area (Böckweiler, Altheim, Brenschelbach, Riesweiler and Pinningen) and parts of the Gersheim municipal area (Utweiler, Peppenkum, Medelsheim, Seyweiler), offering connections to the main towns of Blieskastel and Gersheim. Barrier-free electric minibuses are used, which run to order without a fixed timetable and without long waiting times. The bus can be ordered immediately or up to two weeks in advance via the new Saarland-wide "flitsaar" app, the Internet or by telephone (06841/ 104-7252). If you book directly, the vehicle will arrive at the passenger's location within 20 minutes and they can get on and off at any of the regular stops as well as additional stops visible in the app. The vehicles take passengers as directly as possible to their destination and at the same time try to pick up other passengers with similar journey requests along the way without making long detours. The fare is based on the regular local transport tariff, so that passengers do not incur any additional costs. "The new service is intended to improve the connection between rural areas and the main towns and cities and, thanks to the connections to the bus stations in Gersheim and Blieskastel as well as the train station in Lautzkirchen, also make further bus and train connections easier and quicker to use," explains District Administrator Dr Theophil Gallo
The operating times are Monday to Friday from 5.30 am to 8 pm and Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 7 am to 8 pm (first and last journey in each case).
