District Administrator Dr Theophil Gallo took the opportunity to personally congratulate Christa Baquet from Niederwürzbach on receiving the Federal Cross of Merit. On the award day in November in the Orangerie with Social Affairs Minister Dr Magnus Jung, adverse circumstances had thwarted this intention. This made the meeting at the district administration office, where Christa Baquet was accompanied by her husband Jürgen Baquet, who is also a recipient of the Order, all the more cordial.
For over 20 years, Christa Baquet has always been a reliable support for people who need a helping hand, a sympathetic ear or a comforting word.
Her selfless commitment went and still goes far beyond the usual - whether as a "Green Angel" at the beginning of her voluntary work, then in dealing with homeless people at the "Treff im Gässje" in St. Ingbert and, last but not least, in accompanying mourners in her "Trauercafé Oase". The nun has made it her life's work to help people overcome a wide variety of fates. In doing so, she remains modest, as was evident in her exchange with District Administrator Dr Gallo.
Christa Baquet has now caught up with her husband. The two crosses of merit in the house should not be left to languish in a drawer. The couple therefore had the two medals and certificates put in a frame, for which they now have to find a worthy place, as Christa Baquet happily explained.
District Administrator Dr Theophil Gallo was not sparing with his thanks. "Your care and warmth of heart are invaluable and exemplary for our society. You deserve my recognition for this, which I naturally also convey on behalf of the Saarpfalz district," said the District Administrator.
