Participation forums on the Saarland climate protection concept

The Ministry of the Environment, Climate, Mobility, Agriculture and Consumer Protection is inviting all interested Saarlanders to take part in the development of the climate protection concept from the end of August 2024. Minister Petra Berg will open the kick-off event on 28 August 2024 at the Theater am Ring in Saarlouis. Registration for the six events taking place in the individual districts and the Saarbrücken Regional Association is possible up to one week in advance.

In the first part of the two-hour event, the Saarland's climate protection goals and their planned implementation will be presented, giving participants an overview of the bundles of measures included. In the second part, there will then be an opportunity to discuss technical topics, funding opportunities and measures to adapt to the consequences of climate change. Suggestions from citizens will be taken on board. The events will be followed by topic-specific specialist working groups, which will examine the proposals submitted for their feasibility and, if necessary, concretise them.

The participation forum for the Saarland climate protection concept in the Saarpfalz district will take place on 29 August 2024 at 18:00 in the district administration in Homburg.

Registration is possible online or by telephone up to one week before the event:

Independently of the events, there is an opportunity to submit suggestions and comments on the climate protection concept on the ministry's website at www.saarland.de/beteiligung-kskfl until 15 September 2024.

Background:

Saarland wants to make its contribution to climate protection and to adapting to the effects of climate change that are already being felt in the state. The Saarland climate protection concept is currently being drawn up as a basis for action for the future climate strategy. The state government adopted its first version in July and presented it to the public. It serves as a basis for discussion and action for all citizens, all companies, associations and organisations as well as the municipal family and the state parliament. All these stakeholders are called upon to further develop the climate protection concept together with the specialised public.

Further information on the Saarland climate protection concept and the complete concept can be found on the ministry's website.
