The whole world lives between the book covers

The KiBiSS project (AQuiS GmbH), in cooperation with the Homburg City Library and the Catholic Adult Education Centre, is once again offering a seminar on reading promotion for reading mentors, educational professionals and interested parties. Good stories, the power and rhythm of words, read, written or spoken, are the basis for education, social participation and our ticket to real life. Reading begins with reading aloud.

Stories enchant and change, they stimulate the imagination and creativity and enable people to experience - and therefore understand - other worlds and living conditions. Although children are primarily interested in prickly pirates, fast cars or whispering fairies and princesses, they are just as open to topics with social relevance such as nature, the environment and current affairs. After all, learning to form an opinion is more relevant today than ever before.

In this one-day seminar, the KiBiSS project aims to "prepare a nest" for reading aloud by jointly trialling reading aloud rituals that create a framework.

Together, we immerse ourselves in foreign worlds, opening the door to the imagination with the help of children's books. Reading promotion with all the senses is experienced and tried out together for children of pre-school and primary school age.

Participants are strongly encouraged to develop their own conceptual ideas in working groups and to present them to each other. The speaker, Ellen Lischewski, is a librarian and cultural manager who has worked in reading promotion for decades. She will also give lots of tips on finding good children's books.

The event will take place on 15 April from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Saarpfalz District Youth Welfare Office, Talstraße 57b, 66424 Homburg. It is free of charge. Drinks will be provided. Lunch will not be provided.
