Paediatric and adolescent dental service

Paediatric and adolescent dental service

The paediatric and adolescent dental service of the public health department is responsible for the organisation, coordination and implementation of dental check-ups in primary and special schools in the Saarpfalz district.

All primary school pupils in the district are given an annual dental check-up at school and their parents are informed of the results. If necessary, the need for dental or orthodontic treatment is pointed out.

In addition, the dental team offers all primary schools age-appropriate lessons on dental health, which include instructions on oral hygiene, dental care and nutrition.

The paediatric and adolescent dental service is available for advice; dental treatment does not take place at the public health department.

Other areas of responsibility:

  • Health reporting on oral health in children and adolescents
  • Expert opinion for authorities
  • Monitoring infection hygiene in dental practices
