The Moselle department covers an area of 6,216 km² and is home to around 1.036 million inhabitants. The population density is 169 people/km². The administrative centre is the city of Metz. The department is divided into five arrondissements with a total of 27 cantons.
The Département Moselle has been an official partner of the Saarpfalz district for over 20 years. The close Franco-German cooperation in the Greater Region provides valuable experience for the development of strategies for cross-border project planning within the framework of the alliance.
